About Canwer
THE STORY
To truly understand my art, you have to understand where I come from. I wasn’t born into a favorable environment, nor did I have a paved road ahead. I grew up in a place where being different came at a high price, facing harsh, direct racism from a very young age—a suffocating reality that hit my mother and me head-on. Amidst that hostility from the adults and the world around us, drawing wasn’t just a childhood hobby: it was my medicine, my refuge, and the only tool I had to keep my humanity intact.
The turning point came during adolescence with a change of scenery. In that time of transition, I discovered hip-hop culture, and for the first time in my life, I saw a mirror reflecting who I really was. I was no longer alone; I found a community where we shared roots, lived experiences, and a true identity. Entering high school, I immersed myself entirely in that culture. With no money, no computer, and no internet access, my first real school was issue #50 of the Spanish magazine Hip Hop Nation. Just four pages dedicated to graffiti were enough for me to grasp everything. I studied them to exhaustion, absorbing every single outline until it became the bedrock of my visual language.
THE STREET & THE EVOLUTION
Economic reality led me to grow up and hone my craft in the heart of a marginalized, low-income neighborhood, surrounded by a racialized community. Down there on the streets, I shaped myself into a pure street bomber: no rules, no safety net, and a vital urgency to make my voice heard.
My path hasn’t been a straight line, nor an overnight success. In adulthood, the darkest chapter hit: enduring the extreme hardship of living as a homeless person on the streets, taking dead-end jobs just to survive, and swallowing the bitter frustration of pouring years of work into drawing comic books without ever getting published. Hitting rock bottom and feeling rejected by the system didn’t break me. Every closed door, every night sleeping rough, and every crash against reality sharpened my technique, toughened my discipline, and turned my need to create into a matter of pure survival.
THE STYLE & THE WORK
That entire journey became my ultimate school and fuel. I’ve transformed that raw, direct energy into a fresh, aggressive wildstyle driven by absolute technical mastery. Today, all that raw energy, those scars, and that resilience have evolved into a technical, aggressive wildstyle executed with uncompromising precision. I don’t paint for trends or as a pose; I paint because it is my natural language and the living proof of having pulled myself through.
Today, the cycle is complete: I take the heritage of the most clandestine street graffiti and elevate it to a professional, high-end level. I produce limited-edition collectible art, print work, and custom designs for those seeking a piece with true soul, history, and unmistakable character. My art stands as a living testament to turning scars into my greatest strength.
